How can I pray?
Journalling:
- Stream of consciousness
- Writing down what God is leading you to or saying
- Writing prayer as a letter to God
- Write down prayers - can see if answered at a later date
- Write things down as God speaks or as they come into your mind:
- Write a prayer for others to be able to read and join in praying...
[un]burden: Prayer Space - Share a prayer need [When sharing needs for prayer please be aware of confidentiality]...
[un]burden: Prayer Needs - Spend time listening to God. Add a verse or words which you feel God wants you to share...
[un]burden: Words of Encouragement
Learning to listen:
- Make space - remove distractions
- Silence/ stillness
- Invite the Holy Spirit
- Turn off phone
- Create a prayer space - secluded, may want blankets/ lights, different areas for different methods of prayer or subjects/ topics; stick things on walls or pin boards...
- Clear your head
- Reflect on a bible verse
- When mind wanders, keep bringing yourself back to that verse (or a word about God e.g. majesty)
- If worrying about things etc - don't just push it down but give it to God before letting it go
- Learn to recognise his voice
- Thoughts, feelings, Bible, experiences , surroundings
- Write things down
- Be persistent
